The Flamenco de la Isla Society (the Society) acknowledges and thanks the Lkwungen people, also known as the Songhees and Esquimalt First Nations communities, on whose traditional territories we produce the Victoria Flamenco Festival.
For the 2023 festival, the outdoor free events will be held at the Cameron Bandshell in Beacon Hill Park. In prior years, the outdoor portion of the festival has been held in Centennial Square in downtown Victoria. However, the Society is experiencing a number of circumstances which has made festival planning particularly challenging for 2023. Like many arts organizations, the Society has been deeply impacted by the pandemic. For the past several years, the Society has lost the ability to hold fundraising events, and there are increased costs associated with festival production in the Square. With these circumstances in mind, the decision has been made to hold this year’s free events at the Bandshell in an effort to manage our current organizational and financial limitations.
The decision to be at the Cameron Bandshell is for 2023 only, and we hope to return to Centennial Square next year. The Square has been a successful venue for the festival and we look forward to returning to the downtown community in the future.
We will do our best to make the 2023 Victoria Flamenco Festival at the Cameron Bandshell a lively and inspiring event! Thank you for your continued support.
